Bortolami

The New York gallery, founded by Stefania Bortolami, is known for its experimental programming in cities across the U.S. Besides its regular line-up of shows in its sprawling Tribeca space, it works with artists to stage site-specific exhibitions in unexpected venues ranging from old movie houses in Baltimore to a Greyhound bus station in Las Vegas. The gallery represents a broad range of established and midcareer contemporary artists. For the fair, Bortolami will show a tightly curated presentation of abstract work by Brazilian artist Leda Catunda paired with pieces by the late American Minimalist, Mary Obering. Catunda has created a new series of soft, tactile paintings using everyday materials as supports, such as found fabrics and vinyl. These will be shown in dialogue with Obering’s subtle geometric compositions made with gold leaf and egg tempera.
